5-Bromo-DMT

5-Bromo-DMT is a brominated tryptamine alkaloid isolated from marine sponges, structurally related to DMT.

Where Does It Come From? (1)

5-Bromo-DMT is a naturally occurring tryptamine alkaloid (brominated), found in Marine sponges. It is flagged as moderately toxic.

Marine sponges

Research & Evidence

5-Bromo-DMT is a brominated analogue of N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) that occurs naturally in certain marine sponges. It belongs to the indole/tryptamine class and is one of several halogenated tryptamines reported from sponge sources. Although it is structurally related to classical psychedelic tryptamines, its pharmacology in humans is not well characterised, and most of what is known comes from chemical isolation and preliminary laboratory studies rather than human research.

Toxicity & Safety

The safety profile of 5-bromo-DMT in humans has not been well established. Because reliable data on its effects and risks are limited, it should not be assumed to share the same profile as better-studied tryptamines.
