Amaninamide

Amaninamide is one of the amatoxins, a group of highly poisonous cyclic peptides produced by certain deadly Amanita mushrooms.

Where Does It Come From? (1)

Amaninamide is a naturally occurring bicyclic peptide (amatoxin), found in Deadly Amanita mushrooms. It is flagged as poisonous.

Deadly Amanita mushrooms

Research & Evidence

Amaninamide is a member of the amatoxin group of bicyclic peptides found in deadly Amanita mushrooms. Like the other amatoxins it inhibits RNA polymerase II and so blocks protein synthesis. It is a toxin rather than a psychoactive compound.

Toxicity & Safety

As an amatoxin, amaninamide is highly poisonous and contributes to the potentially fatal toxicity of the mushrooms that contain it, primarily through liver and kidney damage. Mushrooms containing amatoxins must never be eaten.
