Behenamide (N-behenyl amide)
Behenamide is the fatty acid amide of behenic acid, a long-chain saturated fatty acid.
Where Does It Come From?
Behenamide (N-behenyl amide) is a naturally occurring fatty acid amide. It is well tolerated orally (low toxicity).
Research & Evidence
Behenamide is the primary amide of behenic acid, a 22-carbon saturated fatty acid found in various plant oils. It is used chiefly as an industrial additive, for example as a slip and anti-blocking agent in plastics, rather than as a medicinal constituent. Little is established about it in a herbal context beyond its identity as a long-chain fatty acid amide.
