Caprylamide (N-hexanoyl amide)
Octanamide is the simple amide of the medium-chain fatty acid caprylic (octanoic) acid.
Where Does It Come From?
Caprylamide (N-hexanoyl amide) is a naturally occurring fatty acid amide. It is well tolerated orally (low toxicity).
Research & Evidence
Octanamide is the primary amide derived from caprylic acid, a saturated medium-chain (C8) fatty acid that occurs in coconut and palm-kernel oils and in milk fat. As an isolated compound it is little studied in its own right; most of what is known relates to the parent fatty acid rather than the amide.
