meta-Tyramine
meta-Tyramine is a trace amine and positional isomer of the more common para-tyramine.
Where Does It Come From?
meta-Tyramine is a naturally occurring (and made in the body) phenethylamine (trace amine). It is flagged as moderately toxic.
Research & Evidence
meta-Tyramine is a trace amine, a positional isomer of the much more familiar para-tyramine, differing in where the hydroxyl group sits on the benzene ring. Like other trace amines it occurs endogenously in small amounts and interacts with trace amine-associated receptors, but it has been studied far less than its para isomer and little specific human pharmacology is established.
Toxicity & Safety
The safety profile of meta-tyramine has not been well characterised. As an indirect sympathomimetic trace amine, the general cautions that apply to tyramine are reasonable to assume but are not specifically documented.
