An alkylamide (N-acetyl fatty-acid amide) of the type characteristic of Echinacea root.

Where Does It Come From? (1)

Research & Evidence

This is one of the alkylamides (N-alkylamides) characteristic of Echinacea species, reported as a mixture of the 10E and 10Z geometric isomers. Alkylamides are the lipophilic constituents thought to contribute to Echinacea’s tingling mouthfeel and to its proposed immune-modulating and cannabimimetic activity, with several binding cannabinoid receptors in laboratory studies. This particular minor amide has not been individually characterised in detail.
