An Echinacea alkylamide; this isomer is also known as pellitorine.

Where Does It Come From? (1)

N-Isobutyl-2E,4E-decadienamide is a naturally occurring fatty acid amide (n-alkylamide), found in Echinacea. It is well tolerated orally (low toxicity).

Research & Evidence

This is an N-isobutyl alkylamide of decadienoic acid, a member of the alkylamide family characteristic of Echinacea roots; the 2E,4E isomer corresponds to the compound known as pellitorine, which also occurs in other pungent plants. Echinacea alkylamides are studied for their tingling sensory effect and for proposed immune-modulating and cannabinoid-receptor activity in laboratory models. Specific human data on this single constituent are limited.
