Compound Monograph
Perrottetinene
Perrottetinene is a naturally occurring cannabinoid from certain liverworts, structurally analogous to THC.
Classification
Perrottetinene is a cannabinoid (bibenzyl analogue of thc), part of the other constituents class. Compounds outside the major chemical classes — nucleosides, simple amines, mixed volatile oils, and as-yet uncategorised constituents.
Where Does It Come From? (1)
Perrottetinene is a naturally occurring cannabinoid (bibenzyl analogue of thc), found in Liverwort. It is flagged as moderately toxic.
Research & Evidence
Perrottetinene is a cannabinoid produced not by cannabis but by certain liverworts of the genus Radula. It is structurally analogous to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), differing mainly in its side chain, and laboratory studies have shown it can activate cannabinoid CB1 receptors, giving it cannabis-like properties. It is one of the few well-documented examples of a THC-like compound occurring outside the cannabis plant.
Toxicity & Safety
Human data on perrottetinene are very limited. Because it acts at the same receptors as THC, broadly similar cautions are reasonable, but its specific safety profile has not been established.
