What Is Phenylpiracetam?
Phenylpiracetam is a racetam — a piracetam molecule with an added phenyl group — marketed as a stimulant-leaning nootropic for focus, physical stamina and cognition. The phenyl group is thought to give it psychostimulant properties (and dopamine-transporter activity) beyond plain piracetam, which is why users report a more energising, “physical” effect. Most of the human clinical work comes from Russian/post-Soviet research and is not the kind of large modern trial base Western readers expect, so claims should be read with caution.
Evidence

However, much of the primary clinical literature is older, Russian-language and hard to independently verify, and I did not find large, high-quality modern randomised trials confirming its cognitive or ergogenic benefits in healthy people in this quick pass — so the popular “focus and stamina” reputation is best treated as under-evidenced rather than established. One practically important, verifiable fact: phenylpiracetam is on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list as a stimulant, so it is banned for competitive athletes in-competition.
Dosage & Safety
Reported clinical and community dosing is commonly around 100–200 mg per dose; this is reported for context and is not a recommendation, and tolerance to its stimulant effect is frequently described. Phenylpiracetam is sold as a research/nootropic compound and is not an approved dietary supplement or licensed medicine in most Western countries, so product purity and dosing accuracy are not guaranteed. Because it is stimulant-like, the usual stimulant cautions (sleep disruption, raised alertness/arousal, possible interaction with other stimulants) plausibly apply, but specific drug interactions, long-term safety, and use in pregnancy were not assessed in this pass and should not be assumed safe.
