Phenylpropanoid esters
A class of plant compounds in which a phenylpropanoid acid (such as cinnamic or coumaric acid) is esterified to another molecule. Found in sarsaparilla and many herbs, they contribute antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.
Classification
Phenylpropanoid esters are phenylpropanoids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
