Thymoquinone

The principal bioactive constituent of black-seed (Nigella sativa) oil, a monoterpene quinone with well-documented antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activity.

Thymoquinone is one of the quinones, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
