Arenarioside
A phenylpropanoid (caffeoyl) glycoside of the verbascoside type found in black horehound (Ballota nigra); reported to show antimicrobial activity and affinity at several neuroreceptors, in line with the herb’s traditional sedative use.
Classification
Arenarioside is one of the phenylpropanoids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
