Asparagamine A

A polycyclic alkaloid originally reported from “shatavari,” though later analysis showed it is absent from Asparagus racemosus and that earlier samples were misidentified Stemona; it is in fact a Stemona-type alkaloid.

Classification

Asparagamine A is one of the other alkaloids, part of the alkaloids class. Nitrogen-containing, often bitter and physiologically potent compounds — the group behind many of the strongest plant medicines and poisons.

Where Does It Come From? (2)
