Centellasaponin A

An ursane-type triterpene saponin isolated from gotu kola, related to the plant’s asiaticoside group; reported as an aldose-reductase inhibitor but otherwise little characterised on its own.

Centellasaponin A is one of the saponins, part of the terpenoids class. The largest class of plant compounds, built from five-carbon isoprene units — the essential-oil aromatics, resins, bitter principles, saponins, and plant sterols.
