Erinacines

A group of cyathane-type diterpenoids from lion’s mane mycelium that can cross the blood–brain barrier and stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) synthesis; studied for neuroprotective and cognitive effects.

Classification

Erinacines are diterpenes, part of the terpenoids class. The largest class of plant compounds, built from five-carbon isoprene units — the essential-oil aromatics, resins, bitter principles, saponins, and plant sterols.
