Eugenyl acetate
The acetate ester of eugenol, a fragrant phenylpropanoid abundant in clove oil; it carries a warm, spicy-clove aroma and contributes to the oil’s antiseptic and analgesic character.
Classification
Eugenyl acetate is one of the phenylpropanoids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
