Geraniin

A hydrolysable ellagitannin noted for strong antioxidant, antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity; the principal tannin of the kidney-stone herb chanca piedra.

Classification

Geraniin is one of the tannins, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
