Gypensapogenins

Dammarane-type triterpene sapogenins released by hydrolysing the gypenosides of jiaogulan, related to the ginsenoside aglycone protopanaxadiol; several have been studied in cell models for anti-proliferative activity.

Classification

Gypensapogenins are saponins, part of the terpenoids class. The largest class of plant compounds, built from five-carbon isoprene units — the essential-oil aromatics, resins, bitter principles, saponins, and plant sterols.
