Hypophyllanthin
An aryltetralin lignan from Phyllanthus (chanca piedra); studied alongside its partner phyllanthin for hepatoprotective activity, and a marker compound for the herb.
Classification
Hypophyllanthin is one of the lignans, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
