Isoferulic acid
A hydroxycinnamic (phenolic) acid, an isomer of ferulic acid, found in black cohosh and a building block of its cimicifugic acids. It has shown anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic activity in laboratory studies.
Classification
Isoferulic acid is one of the phenolic acids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
