A phenolic bisglucoside characteristic of European goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea), studied for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and diuretic effects underlying the herb’s urinary use.

Classification

Leiocarposide is one of the phenolic acids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
