Ursane-type pentacyclic triterpene acids from Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica), the aglycone of madecassoside and one of the plant’s key wound-healing and anti-inflammatory constituents.

Madecassic acids are triterpenes, part of the terpenoids class. The largest class of plant compounds, built from five-carbon isoprene units — the essential-oil aromatics, resins, bitter principles, saponins, and plant sterols.
