N-Methylserotonin

N-Methylserotonin is a methylated derivative of serotonin found in plants and as a minor metabolite in animals.

Where Does It Come From?

N-Methylserotonin is a naturally occurring (and made in the body) tryptamine (serotonin derivative). It is well tolerated orally (low toxicity).

N-Methylserotonin (Nω-methylserotonin) is a methylated derivative of serotonin, occurring as a minor metabolite in animals and as a constituent of various plants, including some bananas and other foods. It is structurally the N-desmethyl analogue of bufotenin, but it has been little studied as a distinct pharmacological agent.
