Naptheline glycosides

Naphthalene glycosides such as tinnevellin and 6-hydroxymusizin glucoside, found in senna leaves and pods alongside its laxative sennosides; biosynthetic relatives of the anthraquinones rather than strong actives in their own right.

Classification

Naptheline glycosides are quinones, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
