Norbaeocystin
Norbaeocystin is a minor tryptamine of magic mushrooms and the demethylated analogue of baeocystin and psilocybin.
Classification
Norbaeocystin is a tryptamine alkaloid, part of the alkaloids class. Nitrogen-containing, often bitter and physiologically potent compounds — the group behind many of the strongest plant medicines and poisons.
Where Does It Come From? (1)
Norbaeocystin is a naturally occurring tryptamine alkaloid, found in Magic mushrooms. It is well tolerated orally (low toxicity).
Norbaeocystin is a minor naturally occurring tryptamine found in Psilocybe and related mushrooms, structurally the fully N-demethylated analogue of psilocybin (it lacks both N-methyl groups). It is biosynthetically related to psilocybin and baeocystin, but its own pharmacology and contribution to the mushroom experience are not well characterised. It is a Schedule I substance in the United States.
