A homogentisic-acid glucoside isolated from the seeds of Entada (African dream herb). Reported to show antiprotozoal activity in laboratory studies.
Classification
Phaseoloidin is one of the phenolic acids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
