Swertisin

A C-glycoside flavone found in jujube seed and various other plants, studied for sedative, antidiabetic and antioxidant activity; it is also the structural core of spinosin.

Classification

Swertisin is one of the flavonoids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
