Vitexilactone

A labdane diterpene bearing a lactone ring, isolated from chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus) fruit; a recognised marker constituent, though it showed little direct dopamine D2-receptor activity in testing.

Classification

Vitexilactone is one of the diterpenes, part of the terpenoids class. The largest class of plant compounds, built from five-carbon isoprene units — the essential-oil aromatics, resins, bitter principles, saponins, and plant sterols.

Where Does It Come From? (1)
