Benzyl benzoate
An aromatic ester with a sweet balsamic odour, occurring in jasmine, ylang-ylang and balsam of Peru; used as a perfume fixative and as a topical scabicide.
Classification
Benzyl benzoate is one of the phenylpropanoids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
