Caffeoylquinic acids

A family of phenolic esters of caffeic and quinic acid (chlorogenic acid among them) with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and metabolic activity.

Classification

Caffeoylquinic acids are phenolic acids, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
