Canadine

A tetrahydroprotoberberine alkaloid (the reduced form of berberine) found in goldenseal and related plants; a minor alkaloid that accompanies berberine and hydrastine.

Canadine is one of the isoquinoline alkaloids, part of the alkaloids class. Nitrogen-containing, often bitter and physiologically potent compounds — the group behind many of the strongest plant medicines and poisons.
