Sennoside B
An anthraquinone (dianthrone) glycoside and the main stimulant-laxative principle of senna, alongside its stereoisomer sennoside A. Gut bacteria convert it to rhein anthrone, which stimulates colonic peristalsis.
Classification
Sennoside B is one of the anthraquinones, part of the phenolics class. Antioxidant compounds built around one or more phenol rings — the flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins, and pigments behind much of a plant's protective chemistry.
