Phenolic acids
A broad class of plant acids built on a phenol ring (such as caffeic, ferulic, and gallic acids), widespread across herbs. As a group they are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and underpin much of the activity of phenolic-rich plants.
Classification
Phenolic acids are a class of plant constituents. Simple phenol-ring acids and aldehydes — caffeic, rosmarinic, salicylic, and chlorogenic acid among them.
