Research & Evidence
Tryptorheedei A is an N-sulfonyl-L-tryptophan derivative characteristic of Entada rheedii. It has been reported as an indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) inhibitor (PMID 23537889), which is the basis of a speculative proposed link between the plant and the kynurenine/serotonin pathway — the mechanism most often invoked for the herb’s dream reputation. That chain of reasoning is untested; nothing connects the isolate to a dream or CNS outcome in any organism.
