Research & Evidence
Kaurenoic acid (ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid) is a kaurane diterpene present in Aralia racemosa root. It shows weak-to-moderate COX and iNOS inhibition, and in a head-to-head comparison was a less effective vasorelaxant than the related diterpene pimaradienoic acid (PMID 16102255). It is a widely distributed plant diterpene rather than a spikenard marker.
Toxicity & Safety
No isolated-compound toxicity dataset was located. Reports of reproductive and cytotoxic effects exist for kaurane diterpenes generally and should be checked before it is built out.
